Book Meme - This is for Janet
Mar. 18th, 2005 09:21 amTotal number of books in your house:
Many thousands. There is a library upstairs with the fiction, both hardback and paperback that not only has bookshelves against all the walls but two sets of bookshelves making aisles into the center of the room. The library is about 25' x 25'. Then the non fiction are in four huge sets of 6" high shelves in the living room. They cover a wall about 20' long. My husband's technical books are in his office downsatirs, and my collection of Elizabeth Peters/Barbara Michaels books are in a separate bookshelf at the bottom of the stairs. And then there are the stacks of books we are currently reading, and the ones we are going to read soon, and the library books...
The last book you bought:
From Amazon? Sheep on a Ship by Nancy Shaw and Dies the Fire by S M Stirling
From ABE? The October Men by Anthony Price
In a real bookstore? Becoming a Woman of Prayer by Cynthia Heald
What was the last book you were reading before reading this message?
Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe
Write down five books that you often read or that mean a lot to you.
The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Lauie King
And Ladies of the Club by Helen Hooven Santmeyer
Surprised by Joy by C.S. Lewis
The Stand by Steven King
The Belgariad by David Eddings
What is your favorite book from childhood that you no longer have?
I've worked to collect/recollect almost all of childhood favorites. I don't have The Bumper Book which I remember fondly but haven't seen in more than 40 years.
What is your favorite nonfiction title?
Probably Odile Redon's The Medieval Kitchen or maybe Jesse Stuart's To Teach, To Love. Right now I'm reading Giles Milton's Nathaniel's Nutmeg and, thanks to
lisajulie, Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich.
What are five of your favorite books from childhood?
The Melendys by Elizabeth Enright
Half Magic by Edward Eager
Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs
Maggie by Vivian Breck
Sarah by Marguerite Harmon Bro
