today is my daughter megan's second anniversary. she and her sweetie did their celebrating last weekend, but still, today is the actual day. doesn't seem possible that it was two years ago we had that tiny but expensive wedding at the cliff house in manitou springs. i'm enclosing a photo from the wedding, just in case you want to see what kent looked like walking his daughter down the "aisle". (well, no, i'm not, because it is on my other computer, but i'll mail it on in a separate mail)

meg and anna came over for a bit this morning and meg helped me plant three of my six roses from last saturday's high plains adventure. one of the nice things about working at home on tuesdays and thursdays is that i can take a morning break and spend a quarter hour with my grand-daughter during her "happy" time. she may be fussy in the evenings, but mornings are high-powered smile time. in any case, i've now planted my westerland, my firecracker, and my "found" rose.

we had a high-level, emergency, cancel-all-else, all-hands meeting this afternoon for my team. silly me, i thought that meant that someone would SAY something. what it meant is that our new senior VP (essentially) read us his resume and then told us that we would be concentrating on customer satisfaction in his new organization. duh! so what exactly is it we've been doing for the last ten years without him?

last night i went to the local scrabble club. we meet on monday nights at a Village Inn (kind of a local Dennys-esq chain, for those of you who don't have them) and sit about playing four or six or eight concurrent games of scrabble from six to nine o'clock. last night was small, only two games going, but we had THE NEW BOOK. now for most people that's HP&tHBP, but for we scrabble fanatics it's the fourth edition of the miriam webster scrabble word book. nice bright red cover and two new two-letter words - "qi" and "za". now i knew about "qi" and it's been an acceptable word in British scrabble for some years - it's the inner centering of self used in most martial arts (and often spelled "ki" in this country). but "za" was a new one on me. apparently it is a popular term for pizza on the east coast (especially new york) and on the left coast (especially LA). i personally think they are stretching things, but, hey, it's good to have a two letter word to use with my Z tile.

kent is in tulsa on business overnight, so terry and i are sneaking away to the movies to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. will report on the movie in tomorrow's edition. still reading DANGEROUS GAMES, and finished my audio tape of HIGHLAND LADDIE GONE by Sharyn McCrumb and began MRS. POLLIFAX ON THE CHINA STATION.
