outside

sappho went outside today. she is just turned three years old, and she has never spent a day outside. but today, somewhere between going out to water the potted plants, going out to water the roses, and going out through the garage, she slipped the bonds of household captivity and went outside. what did she do? she's not telling. but after discovering her missing, i left the back door open throughout the afternoon and about 7pm she wandered in making little meowing noises. the door was quickly closed. she did an inventory of the house looking for large predators, but, finding none, settled down for a nap. she is now sitting by the back door looking out at the night.
