FIrst snow of the year in sprinkled over the ground here in Colorado Springs. Wasn't really expecting that. We had First Friday Fandom last night and when the last people blew through the front door around 9pm they told us is was cold and damp and there might be snow down to 6000 feet. Since our house is at 6500 feet, Terry and I and Don Pelton headed out into the garden at quarter of midnight to pick the five watermelons that our little vines had produced over the summer. They are still mostly softball sized and I don't think we'll actually get anything edible out of them but will try cutting them this morning and find out. Green tomatoes anyone? This short growing season thing always leaves us with boxes and baskets of green tomatoes left to ripen on every interior surface.
