Early morning sounds
Jun. 30th, 2015 10:10 amWoke at 5:30 this morning to a crashing sound. Ran downstairs expecting to see Terry fallen on the floor, but she was laying in bed reading. Said she heard the noise but didn't know what it was. The cat was sitting innocently on a chair, but I checked the house and the garage. No overturned furniture, no stack of dishes on the floor, no bookcases fallen and dripping books. So I went back to bed and tried briefly to go back to sleep. Like THAT was going to work. When I went to get dressed I noticed flashing lights through the front window - and there was our noise. A tow truck and a police car were working on a car that had crashed into a parked vehicle just across the road from us.
Yes, Melanie and Chris this is the EXACT spot where your car was hit a few years ago. And where a car hit the retaining wall across the street a year or two later killing the driver. And where a motorist hit a bicyclist with a toddler in a tow cart earlier this spring. Apparently we live across the street from a haunted, accident-prone location. But at least the bookcases didn't fall down.
It also helps to know that we have in the past heard that crashing sound when all of the glass shelves in the hutch fell in on each other (and the best china) in the middle of the night, and also when a kitchen cabinet (and what was then the ONLY china) fell off the wall and onto the kitchen floor.
