So here's the news. This is how I need to tell it, so please don't be offended that you didn't get a personal phone call. And if you are offended, please keep it to yourself. On Christmas Eve I was diagnosed with uterine cancer. I saw the surgeon today and will be going into Penrose Main hospital here in the Springs on Wednesday morning for a complete hysterectomy. I expect to be out after a couple of days and home from work for about six weeks. The oncologist says that we did catch it early and that 80% of cases like mine are handled with no further treatment, but he will not know any hard facts until after the surgery and the pathology report. I'm feeling very positive and fairly calm about all this, but it's still a big shock. I'll be at work Monday and Tuesday urgently trying to get everything straightened out for my absence. I appreciate love, prayers, encouragement, and soft words. Anger, horror stories, resentment, and blame are right out. Also puppies and kittens. No puppies and kittens. Please.
