It has snowed a fair bit. I'm working from home today. My center manager kindly puts out a "snow" email whenever we get weather so that the 90% of people in our office who work for managers elsewhere can document the need not to drive into the office to work. Who here remembers when in order to work one HAD to be in the office - in all times and all weathers?

My whole family is coming for Christmas and I am, naturally, making a spreadsheet to show who arrives and leaves when, what days each person will do what meals, where they will sleep, and whether or not I've gotten them a Christmas present yet. We are definitely holding down the present bit this year. People get a book and a small (in price and size) gift. On the other hand we will have love, and conversation, and good food, and good company.

Work is winding down to it's inevitable end. Less than a month to go now. I want to bring the boys over to the office during Christmas week (when everyone is off) and get them to help me haul things home. Just clearing out twenty years of files on my computer is quite a challenge. And, of course, where do I -put- everything?

You speak of this as though it doesn't happen now. Sadly, this is my life now -- no PTO, no sick time, no snow days, no overtime pay, and DEFINITELY no working from home...so having the bad weather hit at the same time as a bad cold really sucked these past two days.

Oh, yuck! I'm really sorry to hear that. And not so reliable tranport adds to the equation.
