Deuce is gone

memelainaI took Deuce to a vet specialist this afternoon. He did x-rays that showed Deuce's entire body cavity filled with fluid. He had only half a lung left and his heart was pushed out of place. He extracted fluid from around the lungs and from the abdominal cavity and tested it. It was clear that Deuce had FIP. He was in pain and laboring for every breath. The vet said there was no chance that he would recover. I had him put down.
I'm sad but I'm also angry. According to the vet Deuce had to get this from another cat. He has not been near another cat since he arrived. He had to get it at the cattery. The sent me an expensive, lovable, SICK little fur ball, and I have spent hundreds of dollars in vet bills on him in the month that I had him - all because he was already infected when I got him. And there doesn't seem to be a thing that I can do about it.
