Nov. 23rd, 2016 04:36 pmA pleasant pre-Thanksgiving day in Dallas. The pumpkin pies are in the oven, but just need another ten minutes to be sure they set. Kurt is making made-from-scratch mannicotti - perhaps inspired by the food at the marvelous Napoli-style pizzeria we went to for lunch (Testa in Frisco). It is on "the square" so while the adults sat outside and chatted and ate prosciutto and melon and margharita pizza and drank sangria the children could go and run about on the green and climb on the train and turn somersaults.
Kurt and Meg went out last night for dinner and a movie ("Arrival" which I would like to see) and did NOT have to pay $80 to a babysitter. Isn't that nice? Wish we lived closer and could do that more often.
I am typing this on the corporate computer (heavier and smaller than my own Blue Dell) that I so carefully brought so that I could finish an URGENT URGENT URGENT project just as soon as the cadre of VPs all approved the final text. It is now Wednesday and they are still bickering. No approval. No data to load. And, once again, I'm on vacation with my work computer and tasks to do. Six weeks more to go and I have Christmas week off. Then Mem shall be retired!
