i would never have thought it, but i joined twitter last week as "memorman". why? because my disabled sister asked me to. she wanted to know how it worked so that she could follow someone she had heard about, and the easiest way was for me to join and figure it out and tell her how. but now that i know she is online looking for me, i post a couple of times a day. boring things like "i'm at the office" or "what sounds good for lunch?" but the kind of chatter we might have if co-located.
as most of you know, my sister is disabled and her computer is her lifeline to the world. i can understand her desire to keep in touch with twitter. but what gets me is the six people - some of whom i don't even KNOW - who decided to follow me within the first few hours i was online. now i can see twitter as a nice way to keep in daily touch with friends and family. i can see "following" a star or author or politician that you are interested in. but who on earth would anyone who doesn't know me want to "follow" me and hear about my drive to work? beats me!
