Deuce and Death and other Deliberations
Nov. 24th, 2003 10:49 amKitty is getting more used to our house. He does NOT like being shut in downstairs at night. Although I want to assure you that this is not some deep, dark cellar with black beetles but a lovely three room suite with wall to wall carpeting, a heated bathroom floor, and more space than many families living in New York City. He spent most of Sunday sitting on Kent and watching football. We feel he has the makings of a real fan. I have photos of him sitting on Kent, for those who know Kent and find this hard to believe, but I haven't downloaded them from the camera yet. He is a lovely kitty, very warm and cuddly, but a bit bony right now - seems to be on a growth spurt. We had guests over on Friday and on Sunday and he enjoyed entertaining everyone by trying to catch a laser pointer beam and walking from lap to lap. Must I say it? He's a lap slut.
We go at lunch time to sign new wills. Haven't updated them for a number of years and Kent's parents were very distressed that something might happen to us while they were living in the condo in Vegas and our heirs and assigns would toss them into the street. Right, sure. But anyway, we took care of that and a few other details and are doing the signing today. My daughter gets horribly upset when we try to discuss this - seems to think it involves a morbid premonition of imminent demise rather than just sensible planning. Our oldest son seems to think that we are going to leave him millions, but he's always been subject to various fantasies.
I started doing Christmas cards this last weekend. Figured there won't be much time in the next three weeks. It was really very pleasant. I put some carols on the stereo, and there was a pot of soup burbling on the stove, and snow falling outside the window. Quite satisfying. I started at the 'z's this year and got through most of the 's's. This is because last year I didn't get cards out to the 't's until Twelfth Night and my friend Peter was perturbed with me. Wanted to know how to get to the head of the list. I suggested changing his last name to Alfonso but he seemed disinclined.
