quiet weekend

memelainaHad a quiet weekend. Still getting up at 5am and becoming unbearable sleepy before 9pm. Guess it will wear off eventually. I have two days of the Paris trip yet to write up. Did some more Christmas cards. I'm cheating, I printed up a couple pages of labels for the last half of the cards. I looked at the cards that I received on Friday, and over half of them had printed labels. So I took that as permission.
Bad news is that Deuce is still very sick. Starting on his second round of amoxicillin, but still almost no energy, wheezing, runny nose, not interested in eating, and we have to force him to drink. i've made an appointment with someone that Cethy's says is "the best cat vet in the Springs" for tomorrow. his breeder suggests zithromax and says that if he dies or has to be put down that she will send me his brother. Not sure I could manage that emotionally. I'm just concentrating on trying to help Deuce get well. Vet says it could be FIP, but there is no test for FIP and no cure. So what does that leave us? A continually sick kitty?
I unpacked my final UPS delivered package. The four foot high Anubis. My, but it's, well, striking standing in the middle of the living room. And you know, you can substitute "a four foot high statue of Anubis" for "a partridge in a pear tree". There's a filk in there somewhere that I'm trying not to think about.
Other than a little wrapping, I seem to be ready for Christmas. I have to pick up Terry at 10:30am on Wednesday and then bake a Wiehnachtbrot and go to midnight mass. Sometime between now and Christmas morning I need to pack a suitcase or two for Sacramento. But otherwise, everything seems to be in order.
I listen to the orange alert status and wonder if the fabled Homeland Security really know something and is not telling us, or if they're just flexing their muscles. Will something awful happen on Christmas and then two months later someone leaks to the press that HS actually knew what was going to happen and then didn't release the information because they didn't want to disrupt the holidays? Suppose I'll just fly to Sacramento anyway.
