back from california

memelainaGot back from California late yesterday evening and pretty much went straight to bed. Managed to read the last three or four pages of Charlotte MacLeod's Rest You Merry before falling asleep.
So Christmas was mostly spent in playing various games (Catan, Upwords, Mah Jong) with my sister and family. It's how we relate to each other. Sometimes we eat, but mostly we play games. She still lives in the little 3+ bedroom house that she and my mom bought together in 1968. Bathroom access is at a premium with visitors there. But she did seem to really enjoy our visit.
I'm sitting here trying not be angry about an email I got from my cousin when I logged onto my home email this morning before work. Said cousin lives with my sister and assists her in many things (he being 60 and healthy and she being 63 and totally disabled with rheumatoid arthritis). He also brought his 80 some year old aunt to live there a year and a half ago. Now living with two elderly and variously disabled ladies can't be much fun. And we make a lot of allowances. But this email said that although he had enjoyed seeing us, he was unhappy at having to:
a) give up his bed (he has two "bedrooms" - one a regular bedroom with a double bed, and has also taken over the family room/library as his own with a king-size bed - and yes, he did give up the family room during our visit)
b) clean up after seven or eight people (we did try to clean up after ourselves, but obviously not to his satisfaction. sunday morning as we were finishing breakfast and i began doing dishes my sister instructed me to leave them for the cleaning lady who was coming monday morning and take the time instead to play one last game of catan with her.)
I was absolutely floored by his rudeness. I'm debating whether to ignore his mail, breeze through it with a "sorry you were inconvenienced", or blow his lights out.
